Howdy friends,

Just turned on the A/C for the first time this year, now celebrating (the fact that the thing works) with a Dos Equis and sitting here with you, trying to get the word out about a few important things:

Tonight I’m part of a big show here in Nashville, at 3rd & Lindsley, the Nashville Spirit Awards and Billy Block Day, starting at 7 pm. Billy was such an important part of the scene here; it’s still hard to believe he’s gone, but it feels so good to be a part of this show, honoring his memory and the contributions of others in the local community who’ve shown some of that irrepressible BB spirit! Hope to see you locals there.

Friday, April 22: a large one. Taking the Whole Damn Band (hmmm, how’s that for a band name? Probably already taken . . .) down to Mobile, AL to play the legendary Callaghan’s Irish Social Club for the very first time! Showtime TBA. I’ll have usual suspects Joe V. McMahan, Paul Griffith, Ron Eoff, and newcomer, keyboardist extraordinaire James Westfall with me, ready to throw down, y’all . . . and you can catch us again on Sunday, April 24, at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, on the Lagniappe Stage, at 4 pm. The Fest is always one of the highlights of the year, and I am honored to be invited to return yet again to do that thing we do. Hope you can join us–come say hello, because I know some of you will be coming in to New Orleans from a long ways off. And if you miss us Sunday, we’ll be playing at Louisiana Music Factory on Frenchmen St. on Monday, April 25, at 3pm. Easily one of the greatest record stores in the country; hell, on the planet!

Yes, the long-awaited vinyl release of the latest record, Long Gone Time, arrived two days before this past Saturday, which was Record Store Day. We were able to get some in to Grimey’s, here in town, and soon we’ll be getting it out to other independent record stores. With this vinyl release, we were able to present the tracks as originally intended, with all of the acoustic tracks grouped together on one disc, and all the electric tracks on the other. Plus you get the bonus track from the CD, “Following a Sign”, AND another bonus track not available on any prior version of the record, “If You Will”. It’s an entirely different way of hearing the record, and as I said, it’s the way it was originally intended to be heard. Also, there’s a download card enclosed for free downloads of hi-res (.wav) and lower-res (.mp3) digital versions of all tracks on the vinyl edition. And did I mention that the front cover, featuring Michael Noland‘s painting “After the Flood (Katrina)” looks amazing! Thanks to designer Keith Brogdon at Thinking Out Loud Design, it’s a beautiful package. You can order it here: http://kg.kevingordon.net/long-gone-time/ or via the bandcamp site: https://kevingordon.bandcamp.com/album/long-gone-time

Of course, we’ll have some in the van with us this week, and would love for you to take one home with you!

See you soon–

kg
