Hi all,
Yes, it’s only been a week since you’ve heard from me–but there’s a lot going on these days that has nothing to do with the special prosecutor or the president that I need to make sure I tell you about:
The Road Goes On Forever . . . but where’s that party again? Wait, that’s not how that goes. Very much looking forward to getting back on the road in trio formation, celebrating the recent release of my new album Tilt and Shine everywhere we go, starting today, Thursday 9/20 at legendary Eddie’s Attic in Decatur, GA. Early show, 7 pm. Get tickets here: https://www.ticketfly.com/purchase/event/1691208
On Friday, 9/21, we return to Charlotte, NC to play the River Jam at the U.S. National Whitewater Center, again at the magic 7 pm hour. And did I mention that this is a FREE show? Well, I just did.
On Thursday, 9/27, we’ll be in Little Rock (well, North Little Rock, really), playing the Pot Luck and Poison Ivy Series again, at the Joint. Instead of their usual multi-act format, this one’s all about me, baby (and you know how I love that! Turn down that spotlight, please . . .). But a different sort of program–we’ll play some songs of course, but I’ll also be reading some of my poems, journal entries, etc. and just talking about the things I do. I’ll likely be sweating like an ice cube in a hot skillet, but I am genuinely looking forward to this special evening, so come on out and enjoy the show. Find tickets for you and all your friends right here: https://potluckandpoisonivy.org/buy-tickets/
Friday, 9/28 finds us way down south, in my home state, playing the Red Dragon Listening Room in Baton Rouge for the very first time. Find out more info here: https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3387407 Yep, it says I’m solo, but due to some logistical changes on my end, it is indeed a trio show, and we’ll stand right there and let you count us: uno, dos, tres. One money, three guys. What a deal!
Saturday, 9/29: We’ll be driving due west, all the way to Houston, TX, to play McGonigel’s Mucky Duck. I performed there w/my friend Ray Bonneville last year, and look forward to bringing the trio in to this fantastic venue. Tickets can be found here: http://bit.ly/gordon-sep-29
Sunday, 9/30: (Y’all tired of driving yet?) We’re going up the road to play Sam’s Town Point in Austin. I gotta say, this is one of my favorite old spots in a rapidly changing, growing, yet-still-cool city. If you’ve never been to Sam’s T.P. before, you’ll swear your GPS is sending you to the wrong place. But keep going . . . it’s a great honky-tonk, tucked back off the road. On Wednesday, 10/3, I return to the Bluebird Cafe here in Nashville for a special songwriters-in-the-round show with Shannon McNally, Dan Navarro, and Marc Douglas Berardo, at 9 pm. Get your tickets now: http://thebluebirdcafe.tunestub.com/event.cfm?id=286848
Live recordings: This past week I’ve been archiving/backing up more live recordings of my shows (I have a LOT), and I discovered one in particular that, at least at first listen, was “satisfying” even to myself–my harshest critic. Thinking about editing, mastering, and putting it up for download. Stay tuned. It’s been interesting hearing early versions of what were then new songs, and then to the later versions they grew into.
Tilt and Shine Vinyl: We have the 2nd round of test pressings, and should be approving one batch or the other any day now. Progress! Apologies for the delay, but as I’ve explained before, it doesn’t make much sense to do this unless we’re really going to try to get it right. Also, don’t forget, there’s a vinyl “pre-order” option, which allows you to download and listen to the record as soon as you make your purchase. Go here to do that: https://kevingordon.bandcamp.com/album/tilt-and-shine Just scroll down til you see the vinyl option.
Wonderful to see so many of you from out-of-town and out-of-country during Americanafest last week! I really love and appreciate the fresh energy you bring with you.
Hope to see YOU at one (or more!) of these upcoming shows–have a great day!
Best,
Kevin
There is no better place to watch new talent mixed with experienced writers and players than the Bluebird in an intimate setting. I wish I could be there on 10/3.
