New Orleans (yes, please)

Levee wall mural, Algiers

Just a brief rundown of my/our show schedule for the next few days here in this beautiful city:

TONIGHT(after playing a backyard crawfish boil) I’m at Chickie Wah Wah, w/Drink Small and Seth Walker, going on at 10pm. SATURDAY (5/4), I’ll be appearing at Jazz Fest, on the Interview stage at 2:30pm, then with a 6-piece band on the Lagniappe stage at 5:15pm, closing out the day. The band consists of Joe V. and Luella from Luella & the Sun, Ron Eoff, Aaron Mortenson, yours truly, and special guest David Egan sitting in on piano and organ. Then at 10pm we’ll be at the Rusty Nail, splitting the bill with the fabulous Country Fried! I hope those of you in town can stop by and see us at one or more of these shows.

In other news, I’ll soon be launching a new pre-sale/funding campaign for the next record, which I hope to begin recording within the next few months. Most of the songs seem to be based in, or about characters I’ve met in, my home state of Louisiana. Stay tuned for details. All I know is, as far as the campaign is concerned, it will be a more simplified format–fewer “levels”, etc. and will retain the “homegrown” flavor of the Gloryland campaign.

    Hello Kevin,
I’m glad you keep it going. I admit, your music has staying power with me like no other. I mean it in a genuine way. I know there are many talented musicians and writers out there. I can hear your influences. But your song craftsmanship, expression in your sound and most of all your stories and metaphors affect me so pleasingly. Thanks. I will be happy to contribute too your fundraiser.
I saw and heard you in Goshen IN last year. Great show. I did get a chance to chat (most likely babbling on my part) with you. Sure would be cool if you played The Ark in Ann Arbor MI sometime.
I look forward to your new work.
    Gary Simon
