This week: Louisiana shows! New Record Update! Sponsorship Deadline June 1!

I’ll be honest–I have no business sitting down to peck out a post right now, but I’m here, and writing a quick note to you feels good. I’m in pre-departure scramble, high-speed wobble mode–running a load of laundry while reviewing/restocking merch inventory while drinking coffee while deciding how many CDs to order (of the new release).  While needing to re-shoot the funding campaign video and in the interest of the public health, it would probably be good to shower. You get the idea. Although by now, you’d think I have this very familiar part of my life down COLD. But nope. Though I feel very lucky to be able to do what I do, every time it’s a self-stressout fest, alternately murmuring little prayers and hopes or cursing loudly. And ultimately getting out the door at least two hours behind schedule. Which is why I tend to leave for a road trip a day early. But at least I get to see my mom, and hopefully my sister, brother-in-law, and niece and nephews once I park the land-sled in Mississippi for the night. And here’s what’s coming up, starting tomorrow:

Thursday 5/24   Utility Brewing   Ruston, LA 6pm (solo)

Friday 5/25   Flying Tiger Brewery   Monroe, LA 6pm (duo w/Monty Russell)

Saturday 5/26   (private event)   Ruston, LA

Sunday 5/27   SOLO Songwriters Festival   Lafayette, LA (solo)

I’ll be playing twice on Sunday–doing a couple of songs, one by my dear friend David Egan, at the Dreamer Brunch, at around noon; then playing the festival that evening (please check schedule for showtime). Really looking forward to these shows–I hope if you’re in the area, or can be, that you’ll come out and say “hey.”

New Record Update: As you know, for the last couple of months we’ve been running a funding campaign, essentially a pre-order sorta thing, for the forthcoming new release, which will officially drop on July 27. The campaign ends on June 1–only a few days left to get in on the good stuff! You can find out more by clicking on the “Let’s Make a Record” tab in the top menu on any page on my site, kevingordon.net. As ever, if you have questions, you can email me directly at kevingordonmusic@gmail.com and I’ll get back to you ASAP. So far, almost 70 sponsors have participated, bringing in over $10,000. That might seem like a lot of money, and gee-whiz-hell-yes I’m grateful for every dime–but we are running a national marketing campaign here, and let’s just say: it gets expensive, and fast. So, if you like what I’m doing musically (and if you’re reading this, my guess is that you DO), want to see this new baby get out there and reach as many folks as possible, and haven’t checked out the sponsorship options yet, please do. Thanks to all of you who have joined us; by pre-ordering the record (and assorted perks which are included as thanks for your participation), you’ve provided funds that help offset the costs of manufacturing and promoting this new release. Also, sponsors: I’ve set up the exclusive sponsor page and will be emailing you with the password soon; you’ll be able to get a first look at the cover art, which features a tintype by Louisiana artist/photographer extraordinaire Frank Hamrick, and a bit of the story behind it.

Thanks very much to Marty and Brian from Switchback for having me return to their annual Songwriters Weekend in Dubuque, IA recently. I had a blast, and really enjoyed meeting all the writers, hearing new songs, and soaking up the generous hospitality found at Four Mounds Inn. Great people, beautiful setting.

Okay, gotta run. See you out there, somewheres . . .

Kevin
